I have embodied many incarnations in my life: an athlete, a scientist, a wife, a mom, and a writer. Each one has led me closer to discovering who I am meant to be. Collegiate basketball trained me to push my body beyond physical limits. Earning my PhD in Immunology taught me to push my mind past mental barriers and soak in how research works. Becoming a mom caused a tectonic shift in my identity, as I learned what is truly important in life, which included finally pursuing my passion for writing.
Taking advantage of the opportunity to combine many of my current and former selves into one purpose, I researched and wrote On the Origin of Being with my co-author, Luke Comer. I am continually toppled over in awe by the research and discovery of human nature and humbled by the study of our amazing ancestors.
I also write middle grade novels and adult short stories. My first completed middle grade novel is called The Andromeda Prophecy a sci/fi-fantasy mash up. I am currently looking for representation for this book. My work in progress is called Magpie Rising. My short stories are not published…yet…but one recently was a contest finalist. I live in Denver, Colorado with my husband, a future linguist, a future chemist, and three furry friends who make life so much more fun.
